This Journey I have embarked on:
Write 1000 albums, has changed my writing.
I started writing songs when https://substack.com/@kry5tyn introduced me to a little app called SUNO.
I used it to create my Audiobook.
Then a secular thing happened. A particular chapter, sounded a lot like a song.
Where I am at so far:
I am currently writing album 62. It is presently called: A new hope. I say presently because I often change up the names of many things I write when they take on a new meaning for me.
It is important to me that I change with the flow of creativity. Missing an opportunity like that can stifle you or even burn you out. I have to keep it all new and exciting for myself.
For me, writing is a kind of self-discovery. I start by addressing a fear, and then I try to face it head on with the story.
When I write a song:
I usually start with the bridge. Typically: two to three lines I could repeat. It has to be catchy. If it sticks around, then you did it right. Tip: Don’t go to the store. Go-go-go, to the store.
After that, I write the chorus, above it. Here is where we shock or pull our listener in. I paste that above the bridge.
Verse one is arguably the best part. Now we are getting into what you and I are good at, telling a story. How does our story begin?
Second Verse is where we add anything we want. Sometimes, writing a reaction to the first verse is a great tumbler into the third.
Third verse is closing it out. Let’s say our goodbyes. Put something satisfying.
Now, we copy-paste our chorus and bridge between each verse.
I use the following order:
Any sound effects or Intro.
Chorus
Bridge
Verse one
Chorus
Bridge
Verse two
Chorus
Bridge.
If your song needs a little more meat, here is a great spot to add a musical interlude.
Verse 3
Chorus
Bridge
FIN!
A finished song. You are done.
There are many methods to write a song. This is what works for me. I suggest you experiment and see what works for you. I encourage you to try many methods. You will find your own way, and that is always the best way.
